Boycotting christmas.

Rudolph and Santa hit the stores before we even shut the door on September. That’s just uncalled for. Why do we wish away today? Part of what makes Christmas so special is the waiting and anticipation.

Like eating our dessert before dinner, Christmas in September is robbing ourselves of the glory of fall. Fall is the time of changing trees,  brisk cool mornings, and warm cider. Fall is the cozy and calm, yet full of expectation. It is somewhat of a fresh start and a time to enjoy the new beginnings that have begun. I don’t want to miss the weekend football games, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and caramel apples.

I don’t want to be so focused on the wonderful things that are just around the corner, that I ignore the incredible gifts right in front of me.

So, here’s to boycotting commercial Christmas, and to living and enjoying now!
